What is an Educational Foundation? 

If you are not familiar with the objective of an Educational Foundation, our role is to work in tandem with the PTA to provide financial support and enhance the curriculum of our school—primarily in the areas of Technology, the Arts, and Sciences. 

Many of the public schools within the Poway Unified School District have both a PTA and a Foundation.  The MREF will partner closely with our PTA to ensure that programs and fundraising efforts do not conflict, and to combine efforts where objectives are similar.

Why have a Foundation? 

With tight budget constraints, schools need to work directly with community members, parents, and local business for desperately needed funds.  We want to keep students active with PE programs, and give them much needed exposure to creativity, technology and sciences.  The MREF is not restricted in the type of fundraising it hosts or the specificity of how it can spend its money.  Our Foundation can also carry money over from year to year to support long-range goals. 

How will the Foundation raise funds? 

The Foundation will strive to choose fundraisers that provide family benefits while earning money for the school.  We will solicit corporate partnerships and community support, as well as creating opportunities for families to become involved.  Our first effort will be to launch a general pledge drive. 

Help us to break ground in our fundraising efforts at Monterey Ridge Elementary by looking for an MREF pledge envelope in your child’s information packet on the first day of school.

The Monterey Ridge Educational Foundation is fortunate to have a group of parents with the vision and the commitment to create this opportunity for our school, and especially our children.  We look forward to working together as a family at Monterey Ridge Elementary School and getting to know all of you.  Please watch for meeting dates and join the fun-loving, passionate group of volunteer parents and staff as we make a difference in the lives of our children.
